QR codes are two-dimensional matrix barcodes that can be scanned by a smartphone. An evolution of the one-dimensional barcode you find on grocery items, QR codes were invented in 1984 and initially used to track inventory.
Today, however, they’re used for a variety of purposes, from sharing Wi-Fi passwords to displaying digital menus at restaurants, providing ways to pay for goods, and much more.
With the ability to hold masses of information, QR codes are versatile and can be scanned from almost any angle. There’s also no need for a physical scanner to access the info inside a code, and all you need is a smartphone, which isn’t the case with traditional barcodes.
All of these reasons and the fact that they’re so easy to generate are why QR codes are so popular around the world.

The type of QR Code you’ll need will depend on what you’re using it for.
For example, if you’re a business using a QR Code to open lines of communication with customers, a WhatsApp QR Code or Facebook Messenger QR Code will probably be the answer. You may also choose an Email QR Code or SMS QR Code to help customers quickly get in touch with people in your organization.
Restaurants and bars, on the other hand, will likely choose a PDF QR Code, where they can upload a digital menu that can be scanned by customers. Payment QR Codes are also popular in the hospitality and retail industries, and they can simplify payment processes.

The quickest way to make sure your QR codes are functioning correctly is by trying to scan them. Use multiple devices to ensure that they can be scanned by anyone with a smartphone, and try scanning from different angles to see if you can improve readability.

The most common issue with QR codes not working is the color. With QR Code Fusion, you can choose an array of different colored designs for your codes, but they may be unreadable if they don’t contrast the physical location of the code.
For example, a blue QR Code probably isn’t the best option for a blue poster. If this is your issue, the fix is easy. Simply change the color of your code and test it again before printing it.
Another issue might be that you’re printing your QR Code in a low-quality format, which may be problematic if you print a larger code. Using something like JPG may result in pixelation when it comes to printing, so go for a PDF, SVG, or PNG, instead.
Finally, your QR Code may be too small to be scanned. As a rule of thumb, it should always be at least 2x2cm in size, especially if it’s being printed. If your code isn’t working and it’s smaller than that, you’ve probably found the problem.
